Diabetes, asthma, inflammatory rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis and many other chronic inflammatory diseases (IBD) need to be diagnosed more quickly in order to be better treated. Especially since they currently represent 5 million French people, according to the Pasteur Institute. So to improve their care, the Bordeaux University Hospital and Capgemini are developing a digital platform called Guardian Angel, reveal the echoes. It has been tested in the Landes by 64 doctors since 2016.
Often these diseases are discovered at an advanced stage, which leads to heavier treatments. Professor Patrick Berger, pulmonologist at the Bordeaux University Hospital explains: “At the hospital, we most often discover patients at an advanced stage of the disease, in severe forms which occur after a certain number of failures in the treatment charged”.
Advance screening, improve follow-up
The Guardian Angel application allows you to bring forward the time of screening. At the center of its operation: the patient, connected to his attending physician, the specialists and the University Hospital. Initially, the doctor discovers a symptom, reports it to the platform. The latter contacts the patient and if he agrees, opens a file to clarify the diagnosis.
Both patients and doctors have better monitoring of the evolution of the disease and of the treatment. Each part has its dedicated interface in the application. Finally, Guardian Angel makes it possible to centralize data on these diseases and to advance research. The application will be tested more widely in 2020 in Landes, Gironde and Dordogne. It should be generalized to all of France by 2022.
