Success for the Telethon which took place in December 2015, just after the Paris attacks. The French have been more generous than expected.
Telethon 2015: + 8% in distance donations
But the attack effect is there: the French participated less in fundraising operations in the field. On the other hand, they were more generous by telephone and by Internet! Donations collected by these two means, remotely, increased by 8.24% compared to 2014.
The level of donations, which had fallen in recent years, is back to the 2011 threshold.
Fund research against myopathy
Remember that the Telethon is used to finance research against myopathy and experimental work in gene therapy, which can benefit other pathologies. The Telethon has been in existence for 29 years, and has funded dozens of research programs, laboratories, patent discoveries, now used in effective treatments to improve the quality of life of patients, and extend their life expectancy in the best possible health.
In 2016, Le Téléthon will celebrate its 30th year of fundraising.
