Indispensable as soon as the temperatures drop, the soup is found on all tables during this season. That soup that you devour at least once a week, have you bought it or have you made it yourself with seasonal vegetables?
Industrial soup vs homemade soup, who wins?
Even though it is more convenient and faster to consume an industrial soup, nothing beats a good homemade soup!
In an industrial soup, we do not find only vegetables and herbs. If you detail the labels, you will find additives, modified starch which can cause allergic reactions but also too much salt and maybe even sugar. These ingredients are not good for your health, especially if you have high blood pressure or are monitoring your blood sugar.
In a homemade soup, you choose the foods that compose it and you prepare it according to your tastes. In addition, it is more economical prepare it yourself with seasonal products or with legumes such as lentils or chickpeas which provide consistency and protein. There are many recipes. In any case, a homemade soup will bring you more benefits than store bought soup. Usually made with vegetables, these are rich in fiber and bring good number of nutrients.
Three tips to finish : Be careful not to over-soak the vegetables in the rinse water, or overcook them to avoid denaturing the nutrients. Similarly, do not cut your vegetables too early because the vitamin C contained in them will oxidize. Last advice, prefer a soup with pieces or mouliné rather than mixed because the mixing “breaks” the fibers of the food which makes them less beneficial for the body and less satiating.
