With the expected release of the iPhone 14 this fall, only the most expensive models will get the best chip.
Earlier we reported that probably two of the four new iPhone 14 models would receive a modified version of the current A15 Bionic chip and two a brand new chip. This rumor has since been endorsed by several sources.
What is the case? The current A15 chips also come in the entry-level models of the iPhone 14. A little modified with 6 GB of ram instead of the current 4 GB. The iPhone 14 Pro models will, however, be equipped with a new chip. According to a report by research agency Trendforcewhich took a closer look at the global smartphone market.
The latest processor is then reserved for the most expensive versions of the iPhone 14 and that will most likely be the A16 chip.
special
It seems special that Apple chooses this. In March there was already a tweet from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who pointed to this. Kuo is once again well-introduced, because several sources now confirm what he claimed at the time. But why does Apple choose this?
Apple isn’t going to tell us that, of course, but it could well be that the global chip shortage has something to do with it. As a brand you then have to make choices and it is not entirely illogical that they want to make the most expensive models the most value for money. Sour if you are more of the entry-level models. After all, they aren’t a bargain either.
Upgrade
Will it not help you in terms of chip if you want to trade in your iPhone 13 for number 14 later this year? Well, at least if you now have an entry 13. With the latest generation iPhone you get the same generation chip but with 6 GB of ram. That is now reserved for the pro models.
