A replica of Ed Roth’s Kustom Road Agent creation, named Agent Thor and as unusual as the 1964 original, is on sale for € 29,950. It is based on a 1971 Beetle and has something to turn heads at any gathering.
Notice to Santa Claus when he is looking for a new vehicle to replace his sleigh as the holidays approach. A small atypical red car with white upholstery, including fur, is currently offered for sale by the Dutch from ER Classics. This two-seater hot rod-like tray that seems to plunge forward seems to come straight out of an American Auto Show in the 1950s. And for good reason: this is a replica of the Road Agent from 1964, one of the creations of the late artist Ed Roth. The man is considered one of the founders of Kustom Kulture across the Atlantic, to the point of being nicknamed Big Daddy in this community.

A hot rod on a Volkswagen base
Aesthetically very faithful to the Road Agent, this unique car named Agent Thor was built between 2017 and 2019 in England on the basis of a Volkswagen Beetle from 1971. Its steering wheel is placed on the right, and the car is powered by a four- Volkswagen original 1.3 l flat cylinders. It is indeed the only recognizable element of the famous “people’s car”.
The body of Agent Thor is made of fiberglass, and the screen covering its passenger compartment has an electric control. The uncovered front wheels are topped with transparent mudguards. Small mirrors and rear air intakes are additions the original Road Agent didn’t have.

The price of a unique achievement
Agent Thor is priced at € 29,950. The authentic 1964 Road Agent had changed hands at auction in 2010 for the modest sum of $ 154,000, which today would correspond to around € 173,000.
