What happens during a hearing test?

Hearing professionals test your hearing for the pitches that are especially important for speech. Through headphones they let you hear tones in different heights and strengths. When you hear something, give a response. The results are then displayed in a so-called tone audiogram. On the basis of this, the hearing care professional can give you professional advice. An extensive hearing assessment takes about 20 minutes.

A hearing test is almost always free and without any obligation.
Is there a quality mark for hearing care professionals?
The Hearing Care Register Foundation (StAr) monitors the quality of the professional training to become a hearing care professional and provides additional and further training. In addition, the Foundation determines the quality standards for the services and the business layout and checks hearing care professionals and companies in this regard. So always ask whether your hearing care professional is StAr-registered.
Does the health insurer reimburse hearing aids?
Since January 1, 2013, the hearing care professional determines for which category of hearing aids you qualify on the basis of a hearing protocol. You will only receive a partial reimbursement from your health insurer for hearing aids from that category.
When do I have to pay for my hearing aids?
Your hearing care professional always gives you a free trial of your hearing aids for 2 months. During this period, you will have regular contact with your hearing care professional to optimally tailor your hearing care to your needs. If you are completely satisfied with your hearing aids after 2 months, you confirm this by signing a ‘statement of satisfaction’. Then comes the time of payment
