Do you already have maggots in your container? With some fresh lavender in your container you fight the maggots and you also ensure a pleasant smell. If you put mothballs in the container, you also prevent the insects from laying eggs in your wheelie bin. Maggots do not like sunlight, so make sure that the lid of the waste container is slightly open, for example with a shelf.
