A new UK study, led by researchers at Imperial College London, says women can significantly reduce the risk of uterine cancer by eating enough food to keep a normal BMI, by at least exercising 40 minutes each day and drinking coffee. According to these researchers, the number of uterine cancers could be halved if women followed these simple rules of life.
With more than 6,500 cases diagnosed each year, cancer of the uterus, sometimes called endometrial cancer, is one of the most common gynecological cancers. Cancer of the uterus is most often linked to having too much estrogen in the body, creating an imbalance in the endometrium, the lining that lines the inside of the uterus.
According to Dr Teresa Norat, who led this study, “If you exercise daily and don’t put on extra pounds, then you significantly reduce your risk of getting endometrial cancer. In addition, you significantly improve your general health, which is not negligible. However, in Great Britain, only 56% of women follow these recommendations and they are only 39% not to be overweight ”.
This is not the first time that a study has found an anti-cancer virtue in coffee. The Association for American Cancer Research has already announced that consuming 3 cups of coffee per day reduces the risk of skin cancer. More recently, another American study has shown that non-decaffeinated coffee has a protective effect on our throat. As for the Swedes, they announced that in the event of breast cancer, patients treated with tamoxifen could reduce their risk of recurrence while drinking coffee. This time, it is therefore against uterine cancer that coffee would have protective virtues.
