This operation, launched this Wednesday, aims to inform and educate users while the figures on the behavior of the French on the use of drugs are worrying.
Drug use: the French take risks
In effect, a recent study conducted for the ANSM with a panel of French people shows that three out of ten French people adapt, by themselves, the dose or the duration of the drugs that have been prescribed to them. One in five French people also takes higher doses or several drugs at the same time to relieve symptoms more quickly.
And nearly one in two French people give medication to a loved one because they have the same symptoms (one in ten even does it systematically or often). Finally, 34% consider as “rather not risky” Or “not at all risky“to take expired medicine.
New tools to help French people make better use of medicines
Through posters, a video spot, several audio spots, a leaflet for the general public and a mailing for health professionals, the ANSM wants to get the message across: “Medicines are not ordinary products, do not take them lightly“.

ANSM publishes advice on the proper use of medicines
“The proper use of medicines is a major public health issue that concerns us all, from healthcare professionals to patients.”, recalls doctor Christelle Ratignier-Carbonneil, director general of the ANSM in the press release.
The National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products advises to “respect the prescription of the health professional (dose, frequency, duration, etc.)“, of “pay attention to the shelf life of medicines“, or even “do not take several medications at the same time without the advice of a professional“.
