Two dentists’ unions have agreed to sign the new agreement proposed by the Health Insurance and which organizes the “remains at zero charge” promised by Emmanuel Macron during his campaign. The goal is to promote prevention and basic care. Indeed, many French refuse to seek treatment because of the amounts they have to pay.
Three different care baskets
Dentists will then be better remunerated for care on cavitiesfrom descaling, etc In return, health professionals accept price controls on prosthetic acts. Everything will be organized into three baskets of care:
- The “rest at zero charge” whose price will be capped at 500 euros. We find there all that is ceramic prostheses for the front teeth and metal for the molars. Of this sum, €84 should be reimbursed by social security and the rest by mutual insurance companies. If the patient wants a better quality of prosthesis, he will have to pay the surplus (which can be covered by his health insurance). Oral checks will also be covered at 100% from 3 to 24 years old.
- The second basket includes crowns, bridges and dentures of superior quality which cannot exceed 550 euros.
- The third basket includes 30% of high-end, non-refundable prostheses, such as implants.
The first union of dentists, the FSDL, to refuse to sign this agreement. According to her, the risk is to offer “low-end” prostheses to patients. Despite everything, the signature of the CNSD and the Dental Union will be sufficient to validate this new agreement, which will apply to all dentists by 2020.
