You can buy old Boeing 747s for a few euros, this one has been converted into something special.
A Boeing 747 is iconic. Everyone recognizes the Jumbo Jet from afar. It is a beautifully designed aircraft that has been around for many years. The first commercial flight was in 1970. Since then, many different variants have been introduced. Many airlines are currently phasing out the aircraft from their fleet. This is because they are too expensive to maintain and use too much fuel. That’s why you can buy them for next to nothing.
Boeing 747 converted
We could use a party after the corona misery in recent years. After a 14-month renovation, a retired Boeing 747 is ready to start its new life as a party jet. When British Airways retired its aging fleet of Boeing 747s, an environmentally conscious event manager saw an opportunity to repurpose an old aircraft as an event space. When it rolled onto the runway for the last time, the aircraft was decorated in the Negus livery, which British Airways used between 1970 and 1980. It was repainted in these colors to mark the airline’s centenary.
Privately owned Cotswold Airport in the south of England bought the aging British Airways Boeing 747 in October 2020 for around one euro. At that time, the aircraft had been retired from service by British Airways after 26 years in the air. So there are a good number of flying hours on it.
Celebrate!
It took 14 months to convert the aircraft. The economy section, for example, has been converted into a beautiful event space. There is of course also a bar. The cockpit has been kept in original condition so you can take a look at it. The process was overseen by Suzannah Harvey, chief executive of Cotswold Airport, who also personally picked the Negus craft as the perfect aircraft for the job.

It did cost a bit to renovate. Almost 7 tons were spent on it. Therefore, renting the space is not cheap. For a wedding you just tap more than 15,000 euros. But then you get married at a unique location in England.
