At the end of a year of national consultation, the Order of Physicians today published its health reform project which proposes to “revolutionize the organization of the health system by relying on the territories”. A project based on 4 main principles: freeing up initiatives, decentralizing decisions, simplifying exercises and guaranteeing access to care and the quality of care.
In a press release, the National Council of the Order of Physicians, through the voice of its President Patrick Bouet, underlines:
“Our health system is on the verge of explosion. If it seems to hold up today, it is only thanks to the dedication of health professionals who hold it at arm’s length. The doctors, who are the actors essential, know that it is necessary to reform this system in depth, and they decided to make it known, whereas the presidential candidates do not seem unfortunately to have taken the measure of the urgency which we face “.
Two great measures
The Order recommends the establishment of health proximity basins (BPS) in order to improve the coordination of care. Each BPS would bring together medical homes, doctors in isolated practices and public and private nearby hospitals and would have autonomy in the care of the population in primary and secondary care, explains the Cnom.
The Order also proposes to regionalize the numerus clausus for a better adaptation to the needs of the territories. “Rather than starting from the internal needs of hospitals, we must train the doctors needed in the regions”. The Cnom therefore suggests transforming the national classifying event into an inter-regional event.
