Imagine for a moment the fantasy of being able to buy the most exclusive vehicles of all time, without any budget limit. Some celebrities, inevitably car enthusiasts, have this luxury. L’argus invites you to review their garage worth several million euros.
The Bill Plant Driving School, a British driving school, has published a study on the garages of stars. There is a general ranking based on a calculation of the total value of the collections. And there are as many beautiful people as there are gleaming bodies, among the rarest in the history of the automobile. From the technology-packed hypercar to pre-war nuggets, we detail the 3 collections of the most important public figures in the world.
Hassanal Bolkiah, far ahead of the others
Better known as the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah certainly has the largest collection of cars in the world. “Certainly” as there is almost no verifiable evidence of the condition and number of vehicles owned. Rumors speak of a figure between 4,000 and 6,500 cars. The total value of his dream garage is thus estimated at nearly 4.5 billion euros!
Ralph Lauren, vintage lover
The second most expensive garage on the planet belongs to Ralph Lauren, an illustrious fashion celebrity. The latter has a hundred different cars, including many old models or from the competition. It is estimated that his collection would cost around 320 million euros.
To name just a few cars, there is a McLaren F1 LM, several Ferrari 250 GTOs, an Alfa Romeo 2300 (1931) and a very exclusive green Bentley Blower 4½ Liter in his garage. Some original cars are also present with, for example, the BMW Nazca Concept dating from 1996, a Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic Coupé from 1938 or a Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” (alias “The Black Prince”) from 1930. The American designer seems less of a fan of modern cars even though he owns a Lamborghini Reventón Roadster, to name a few.
Lawrence Stroll, patron and collector
Lawrence Stroll is not known only for his status as boss of the Aston Martin F1 team. The Canadian billionaire is above all an admirer of beautiful cars, especially red and Italian ones. His collection is valued at around $165 million, not including the fact that he sold several models in 2021.
Stroll’s garage is a veritable Ali Baba’s cave for all Prancing Horse fans. Among other things, there are exclusive models such as the Ferrari 360 and F430 Challenge, a low-mileage Enzo and the LaFerrari hypercar. But that’s not all: the collector also owns an FXX K for the track days organized by the parent company. However, this is nothing compared to his 250 GTO, bought for more than 45 million euros a few years ago. Note that he still sold an F40 GTE and his F50 in 2021. Finally, other brands are represented such as McLaren with two F1 copies or a highly sought-after Ford GT40.
A top 15 without surprise
Big names are hiding just behind these 3 extraordinary collections. Jay Leno, Lionel Messi, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Lewis Hamilton and Rowan Atkinson all share garages worth several million, even tens of millions of euros.
