Pupils and students addicted to their cell phone see their school results drop and their quality of life decrease according to a new scientific study.
Professors at Kent State University (USA) examined and analyzed the lifestyles and grades of college and university students who are heavy users of mobility. The researchers wanted to understand whether the use of smartphones improved the lives of young people.
Scientists surveyed 496 students and measured their daily cell phone use. All the volunteers also filled out questionnaires and tests to assess their level of anxiety and the quality of their life.
Excessive cell phone use is detrimental to well-being
The results of the study revealed that excessive cell phone use is harmful to students. Indeed, they become anxious, their academic results drop and their quality of life decreases.
“In summary, when the frequency of use is high, success and well-being are not there. The statistical model illustrating these relationships turns out to be very significant ”, conclude the authors who suggest that“ young people should reduce their use wisely to preserve their health, their standard of living and their school results. ”
This new research confirms the results of the survey conducted by Doctor Karla Murdock of Washington Lee University (United States). They revealed that the students who send lots of texting sleep less well and are more stressed than others.
