Found naturally in fruit, sugar is also present in most processed foods, from soft drinks to tomato sauces and bread. In fact, today, it is present in almost all supermarket shelves. In this context, it seems difficult to stick to the recommendations of the World Health Organization on sugar consumption, namely: 9 teaspoons (CC) of sugar per day for men, 6 for women and 4 for children. However, in a “small” 50 cl bottle of a famous soda all dressed in red, there are no less than 16 cc of sugar! And in a portion of spread, it’s no less than 2 cc of sugar… Suffice to say that attacking the pot is attacking your health!
The effects of overconsumption of sugar
Indeed, an overconsumption of sugar can be at the origin of various disorders, mainly of order cardiovascular : diabetesmetabolic syndrome, obesity... Not to mention the repercussions on the dental health (development of cavities) especially that of our dear darlings. In the documentary, for example, we witness the extraction of teeth from a 3-year-old girl! And in the end, 6 teeth will be pulled out, with the social, economic and health consequences that this entails. In fact, the parents confessed to having given him sodas… by the bottle (see our article on baby bottle syndrome).
Through the experiences of certain patients and the testimony of several renowned doctors and researchers, including the famous Dr Robert Lustig (one of the most virulent denouncers of the toxic effects of sugar), this film attempts to shed light on the link between sugar consumption and the increase in diseases such as diabetes and obesity.
