Spider-Man: No Way Home breaks several unprecedentedly impressive records, despite the corona pandemic!
Marvel runs some of the most lucrative franchises, but so far Spider-Man has not been one of them. That will change with Spider-Man: No Way Home, as the final Spider-Man film in this trilogy breaks record after record. The cinema ticket booths are red-hot because of purchased tickets for the web-slinger.
Spider-Man: No Way Home shatters records
Last weekend the latest Spider-Man came out in cinemas and that is a resounding success. According to variety this is a record shattering film. The first weekend is always decisive and for No Way Home that weekend was good for $260 million dollars. That makes it the second biggest US premiere of all time! Only the combined force of The Avengers: Endgame (including Spidey, that is) managed to pick up more in its first weekend.
Worldwide, the film performs just as impressively. In total, more than $600 million was made during its opening weekend, making it the largest worldwide release ever after Endgame and Infinity War.
And that is all the more impressive given that we are in an unprecedentedly restrictive period; worldwide cinemas were only partially filled because of corona. Besides, it’s ‘just’ Spider-Man; the previous movies from this trilogy didn’t do nearly as well. It seemed, then, that only gigantic ensemble films like Star Wars or Avengers could achieve this.
No, as it turns out, because in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker (with some help from old friends) knows how to crush all box office expectations.
