The pocket, created by a French manufacturer, to limit exposure to waves from electronic devices, would be 97% effective.
Wifi, telephone, microwave: waves are everywhere in our environment. The law requires the various manufacturers to respect limits to preserve human health. But companies are developing techniques to reduce our contact with these waves. One of the latest such innovations is a jacket with a protective pocket.
A fabric made of copper and special fibers
The French costume manufacturer Smuggler offers for sale jackets with anti-radiation pockets. “You will be able to wear a suit and thanks to this anti-radiation pocket prevent them from crossing your body, because we do not really know today what the waves from mobile phones can cause”, explains Gilles Attaf, the general manager of Smuggler at the microphone of France Inter. The pocket is made of a fabric, called TAO, made with copper and different fibers.
“It’s a formula that we found with a weaver from Lyon, we did a lot of tests so that this weave would be 97% efficient, it’s a shield,” he adds. It allows you to continue to receive calls or pass through security gates, such as those found in airports, because it is between the body and the telephone.
Products not always popular
In Savoie, a company has designed anti-radiation shorts in response to their suspected consequences on fertility. According to the analyzes carried out, they would protect 99% against the waves of smartphones. These innovations do not always receive public support. Last June, Internet users pinned the Petit Bateau brand on social networks. The French brand had previously released an anti-radiation blanket and cap, claiming to protect children from “99.5% of the waves”. The public doubted the real effectiveness of the product and accused the company of scaring parents.
Consequences difficult to measure
Scientific research on the consequences of electromagnetic waves is numerous and often contradictory. In 2018, two American studies affirmed that intensive use of the mobile phone was associated with a minimal risk of cancer according to the results of work carried out on mice. A few months later, another study affirmed the opposite. To avoid taking unnecessary risks, use the hands-free kit as much as possible.
