Many smartphones today have facial recognition as standard as an option to unlock the device. Now that almost everyone is walking around outside with a mouth cap, that is a problem. But there is work to be done.
Quickly check your bank balance in the supermarket? Or WhatsApp with the grandchildren on the bus? This becomes difficult if the device does not recognize your face. However, there is something to be done about it.
If you reset the Face ID function, but this time with half of your mask on, the function will recognize you with and without the mask. That is how it works:
- Go to ‘settings’ and go to ‘Face ID and passcode.’
- Choose ‘configure a different appearance.’
- Keep your mask on the right half of your face, by putting the loops on both your right ear and holding the mask until the middle of your mouth and chin. Follow the instructions as indicated on the screen.
- Then do this again, but this time with the left half of your face.
Finished! It is a lot safer for yourself and others if you do not have to take off your mouth cap to unlock your phone.
