When you think of pineapple, do you automatically tell yourself that it burns fat? Be careful, you may be disappointed. Indeed, consuming pineapple at the end of an overly rich meal will not make up for the excesses and will not erase the excess fat.
Pineapple’s fat-burning reputation is mainly due to its bromelain content, a proteolytic enzyme that aids digestion. However, it does not burn fat, but better digest proteins. This enzyme is mainly found in the stem and leaves of pineapple, a part of this exotic fruit that is not consumed.
But even if it does not have fat-burning properties, pineapple is nonetheless interesting from a nutritional point of view. He is low calorie, thanks to its 50 kcal per 100g. It is over 90% water and about 10% carbohydrates. Which makes it an interesting product to keep the line. And it remains a real nutritional treasure, thanks to its richness in vitamins (C and B6), fiber, minerals and manganese (which is involved in the synthesis of collagen).
A weapon against cardiovascular disease
Its fibers give a faster feeling of satiety and longer lasting and acts as a natural appetite suppressant. They also provide a better transit and protect the body against several pathologies including colon cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant, boosts immune defenses and helps fight against oxidative stress and premature aging of cells. Finally, bromelain, in addition to promoting digestion, has anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic, antiplatelet and fibrinolytic properties, that is to say, it helps dissolve blood clots.
To lose weight – as part of a healthy and balanced diet – the ideal remains to consume everything and to favor fruits rich in fiber, such as strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, apples or even citrus fruits, such as lemon.
