According to a study, many men are persuaded to have a penis size that is too small when they would be totally normal.
- Many men who think they have a small penis are actually the norm.
- The average length of an erect penis would be 12 to 16 cm, while its circumference is on average 12 cm.
This should reassure more than one!
In an article published in July 2018, the newspaper Medical News Today explored the existential question that plagues all men: what is the average penis size? And, based on dozens of studies on the subject (the oldest dating from 1899), the authors concluded that the average length of an erect penis ranges from 12 to 16 cm, while its circumference is on average 12 cm. By the way, the average size of a flaccid flaccid penis is between 7 and 10 cm, and its circumference between 9 and 10 cm.
Penis: erect size is independent of flaccid size
According to an American study published in the Journal of Urology in 1996 and involving 80 “normal” men, the average size of the penis is 8.8 cm at rest and 12.9 cm when erect. In this study, researchers also found that erect penis size was independent of flaccid size, and there was also no relationship between age and sex size. Additionally, the authors noted that “only men with penile flaccidity less than 4 cm or erection less than 7.5 cm were considered men with small penises“.
Another study published in 2011, which looked at 3,300 Italians between the ages of 17 and 19, estimated the average size of a flaccid penis at 9 cm in length and 10 cm in girth. Three years later, a study of 1,600 Americans showed that the average circumference of an erect penis was 12.2 cm. Another conclusion of the scientists: the exact size of an erect penis depends on how it is stimulated (for example with or without the hand).
45% of men think their penis is small
But two worrying figures come largely from a body of research on penis size: men’s misconceptions about their sex and women’s wishes. Indeed, most participants in these studies tended to estimate their sex smaller than that of others.
But, as the researchers point out, it’s a matter of perspective. In fact, someone who looks at his penis from above will necessarily see it much smaller than someone who looks at it from afar. It is the same according to the weight of the man. Thus, according to a study conducted in Saudi Arabia which looked at the BMI of its participants, the greater the latter, the smaller the penis appeared erect. Indeed, when there is fat on the lower abdomen, the sex appears smaller.
Moreover, according to a 2007 study published in the British Journal of Urology International, while 85% of women were satisfied with the size of their partner’s penis, 45% of men were convinced that their penis was small. However, according to a survey of 67 participants who thought they had a small penis, none of them actually had one.
Sexual relations: for women, it’s the width that makes the difference
Men are always concerned about the size of their penis, while women are more interested in the width. Indeed, for 9 out of 10 women, the circumference of the penis has a greater impact on the quality of the sexual relationship. It also largely depends on what a woman is looking for in her life at any given time. In an American study published in the journal PLOS ONE in 2015, researchers found that women preferred larger penises for a fleeting relationship: 16.25 cm in length and 12.7 cm in circumference, while women looking for a long-term affair settled for 16 cm in size. long and 12.2 cm in circumference. “In other words, women will prefer different sizes for different reasons at different times and anyone can represent the ideal woman depending on the type of relationship she is looking for.“, concludes the study.
Finally, scientists are concerned that more and more men want to increase the size of their penis through cosmetic surgery. In another study published in the British Journal of Urology International in April 2018, researchers advised their patients to consider non-invasive methods, such as penile traction devices or dilators. They suggest that if the person is really complexed, the best way to regain self-confidence is to talk to a psychologist.
Because you have to keep in mind that having a big penis is not an end in itself, sex can cause tearing and then expose women to more germs.
