As every year at the same time, the government is refining its influenza vaccine awareness campaign. To contain the epidemic and limit the number of deaths linked to this winter disease, the health authorities are counting on numerous means to convince the most sensitive people to get vaccinated. Among these means: vaccination by pharmacists.
Already last year, the latter had been put to contribution by receiving the authorization to vaccinate certain patients from their pharmacy. This year, the operation is repeated in several regions and to an even larger category of people.
In four regions, pharmacists will be able to vaccinate certain patients
This second experiment will concern the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Hauts-de-France and Occitanie regions.. According to the announced device, pharmacists will be able to vaccinate patients said to be at risk, that is to say those who are over 65 years old, those whose pathologies can be aggravated by a simple flu and, unlike last year, pregnant women and people. who have never been vaccinated before.
According to official figures, the experiment which was carried out in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes last year resulted in the vaccination of 160,000 people. During the 2017-2018 season, of the more than 12 million people who were invited to be vaccinated, nearly 5.5 million took the step.
