Samsung’s new flagship is the S22 and this smartphone may come with a change that won’t make you happy.
It won’t be long before the S22 hits stores. The company plans to announce the next Galaxy S flagships in February. But now a new leak suggests the company may have planned a price change for its high-end phone line.
Samsung S22 modification
It’s not good news, because according to a tweet spotted by means of Roland Quandt of WinFuture, European prices for the Galaxy S22 series start at €849. With the base models of the Galaxy S22 Plus and Ultra costing €1049 and €1249 respectively. That’s not news, because then the devices will cost the same as in 2021. But Quandt’s tweet suggests the company will continue to charge a premium of €50 for a storage on the standard and Plus models.
What could change is that Samsung could tweak the Ultra variant of the base model to offer less value than its predecessor. In Europe, the €1249 Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with 8GB of RAM, according to Quandt, and costs the same as the entry-level Galaxy S21 Ultra, which has 12GB of RAM. Consumers in Europe will reportedly have to pay a €100 premium to get the S22 Ultra with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. So the smartphone costs the same, but you get less for your money.
Future
Is this the future? That you have to pay extra money for some more storage. As always, we’ll have to wait for the company to share official pricing information before we know for sure how much it will cost to own the latest Galaxy S phones.
