A new competitor for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the form of the new Huawei P50 Pocket.
Although she’s with Samsung were there nice and early, they are no longer the only ones. OPPO is working on an affordable foldable smartphone and Huawei is also working on it. The latter has now presented a concrete product under the name P50 Pocket.
It is not the first time that Huawei shows a smartphone with a folding screen. In the past they already had the Mate X and the Mate XS. However, this is a flip phone, just like the Galaxy Z Flip 3. A compact principle and it takes up less space in your pocket compared to a regular smartphone. So the idea is not so crazy after all.
Huawei P50 Pocket
The new Huawei P50 Pocket has a 6.9-inch screen when you open the flip phone. The aspect ratio is 21:9. Folded up, there is also a small 1-inch screen to read notifications. The camera lenses look quite large for the phone size. This is a 40 MP + 13 MP + 32 MP setup.
Here in Europe, Huawei has lost the top position in smartphone sales. Huawei Mobile Services on Android is not nearly as successful as Google’s services. The Huawei P50 Pocket was therefore launched in China. It remains to be seen whether the flip phone will come to Europe here.
There are two variants. The entry-level version costs about 1,250 euros. You then have 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM. The top model costs 1,525 euros and gives you 512 GB storage and 12 GB RAM.
