The wheel brand BBS is alive again and has become part of KW
Bad news usually has more reach than good news, so it may just be that you had been told that wheel brand BBS had gone bankrupt, but not that they have been resuscitated again. KW Automotive, known for its beautiful damper sets, completed the acquisition of BBS in June. Meanwhile, the production of the famous multi-spoke rims has started again. This VW Golf GTI BBS Concept will therefore not be the last on the gold-coloured rims.
VW Golf GTI BBS Concept
This Golf GTI is not a promotional model from BBS itself, but from Volkswagen America and enthusiast Jamie Orr. Funnily enough, the GTI is not on damper stuff from KW, but from H&R. There is no direct reason such as an anniversary. The marketing specialist behind the VW Golf GTI BBS Concept was inspired by a Golf II GTI he saw in 2019. He wanted to transplant the retro look on the latest Golf GTI.
The Golf GTI is mounted on 19-inch BBS Super RS rims. At the front, the wheels got a little more camber for a nice fitness. The lighting in the bumper is yellow and stickers are applied around the body. The engine with 245 hp has remained standard, except for a Borla exhaust. The interior is also completely standard. There are no plans to actually put this special edition into production, it remains a one-off marketing exercise.
