According to the investigation carried out by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) following the death of a teenager vaccinated against papillomavirus last October, there is “no [eu] of dysfunction in the organization of the vaccination campaign”.

Death of a schoolboy after vaccination against the papillomavirus: the ARS publishes the conclusions of its investigation
This administrative investigation was carried out by the ARS. It was opened after the death, near Nantes, of a schoolboy vaccinated against the papillomavirus. As part of the national vaccination campaign offered to all 5th grade studentsthe boy had received the injection then, fifteen minutes later, he felt unwell and fell.
“The fact-finding mission considers that the organizations, put in place with regard to the national framework, are suitable for the conduct of vaccination, specifies the ARS. However, recommendations have been made to further improve the conditions for implementing this vaccination campaign.”
The objective of these recommendations aims in particular to “better prevent the risk of stress for young people”. Shortly after this accident, the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) had already recommended that vaccinated adolescents remain lying or sitting on the floor, leaning against a wall for the fifteen minutes following the injection of the product.

“However, elements still need to be explored in more detail regarding the conditions for triggering emergency assistance and caring for the young boy after his fall.”, concludes the ARS. The health authority indicated that it had seized the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (IGAS).
If the conclusions of the administrative investigation are made public, the judicial aspect is still ongoing. Indeed, an investigation into manslaughter was opened by the Nantes public prosecutor’s office. According to the autopsy results, “the death of the young man was the result of craniocerebral traumaindicated Renaud Gaudeul, public prosecutor of Nantes, in The world.
