French people are more and more addicted to well-being and different medicines, according to the 3rd PagesJaunes Santé Barometer.
The 3rd Health Barometer Yellow Pages, presented this Thursday, aims to decipher the uses and trends of Internet users in terms of professional research in mainland France. 289 million searches were carried out in 2015 (landline, mobile and tablet) against 245 million in 2014. A real boom! First conclusion, 36% of health searches are done on mobile (or 104 million searches).
The boom in hypnotherapists
Second observation, with more than 12 million searches per year on alternative medicine, the French are more and more addicted to well-being. This growth of 155% (compared to 2013) is characterized by a boom in hypnotherapist research (+ 80%). Two specialties are also entering the ranking: etiopathy and kinesiology.
But in the top 5 of the most sought-after healthcare professionals, general practitioners remain on the top of the podium with 39 million requests (+ 14% compared to 2014). Dentists come in second, followed by physiotherapists and ophthalmologists. Finally, dermatologists bring up the rear, dethroning the radiologists who were 5th during the last barometer.
The map of deserts and medical oases
All departments are not equal when it comes to access to care. This barometer indeed reveals real deserts or medical oases. In particular, it seems easier to get an appointment for a kidney disease or toothache when you live in the south of France.
On the other hand, it is Paris and the whole Ile-de-France which suffer from a shortage of general practitioners with 1,066 searches for 1 practitioner when the French national average reaches 724. It is also difficult to find a physiotherapist in Ile-de-France. de-France: Seine-Saint-Denis is also struggling with 571 searches for 1 practitioner when the French national average reaches 321 searches.
3 research peaks identified
There is, moreover, a difference of one to three times between the Somme (1,068 searches for 1 practitioner) or the Loiret (1,028 searches for 1 practitioner) concerning dentists. In the latter department, you will have to be very patient to obtain scaling, while the Alpes-Maritimes offer the most developed offer with 337 searches per dentist. Ophthalmologists, for their part, are not readily available in the Territoire de Belfort and in the Tarn et Garonne.
Finally, the Yellow Pages reveal the ranking of search peaks. January, with its share of colds, flu and stomach upset, encourages the French to go to their general practitioner … With 24.9 million requests, this is the first peak of research observed in the year. It is then 6 months later, on the eve of summer, and more particularly in June, that massive searches resume (25.2 million requests). Those on vaccination largely contribute to this peak.
