Wii Sports was very popular and Nintendo is only now coming up with a successor. Read here what it is.
Times are revived, because Wii Sports was a very successful formula. Now, after 15 years, Wii Sport finally gets a long-awaited sequel. That’s actually remarkable, because the game was really popular and Nintendo hasn’t done anything about it in all those years. Up to now.
Nintendo Wii Sports successor
This month it will return on the Nintendo Switch. Like the original, Switch Sports is a collection of virtual sports games that largely rely on motion controls. In other words, it’s a game best played standing up, ideally with a bunch of friends or family members. That used to make the game so much fun that you can play it together.
Of course the famous games back again, think of tennis and bowling. And like all other sports, the game supports both online and local play. This with up to four players on one TV. Kids who haven’t experienced the craze at the time, it’s a great way to introduce motion controls.
New games
New games are also coming. That’s good, because then the game also feels really new. The games you can play are volleyball, badminton, chambra and of course football. The latter is especially important to us, because this sport is popular here. Or in other words: we’re going to play this one first when we have the game.
Football takes a slightly different approach, as it relies on controller inputs for now rather than swinging around wildly. That means it plays more like Rocket League than real football. There’s even a headbutt command that’s tricky to do but it can be done! The game will hit stores on April 29.
