Netflix will now automatically download movies to your smartphone that are recommended based on your preferences and movie history. Until now, this function is only possible on Android smartphones, but will later also be available for IOS users.
The movies are downloaded under the ‘Downloads for you’. An algorithm allows Netflix to see which movies suit your taste and what is recommended based on previously watched movies. You can indicate in advance how much storage you want to use for the downloads. The download only happens when you are connected to Wi-Fi.
Netflix already offers Smart Downloads. That is, the downloaded episode is automatically deleted after watching and the next episode is already downloaded. For example, Netflix tries to encourage the user to continue watching and to keep the user-friendliness as high as possible. Downloading the files also reduces the pressure on Netflix’s servers.
