Inaugurated on February 3 by the Minister of Health, “My Health Space” will gradually be extended to all insured persons. But how does this digital medical record work? What does it contain and how do I create it? Can we oppose it? We take stock.
- “My Health Space” is an improved version of the Shared Medical Record, an online health record created in 2011.
- It has secure messaging, a health diary to keep track of medical appointments and a catalog of state-approved digital health services.
“A New Revolution” comparable to that of the arrival of the Vital Card. Here is how Olivier Véran qualified the generalization of “My Health Space”, this digital health record from which all policyholders will benefit for “store and access their health data confidently and securely”.
During a press conference on Thursday February 3, the Minister of Health declared that the French were “loans” for “this new milestone in the development of digital health”. But what is it exactly?
A digital health record for all insured persons
Accessible from a computer, tablet or laptop, the “My Health Space” website presents itself as a “digital safe” in which policyholders will find all their dematerialized medical data: prescriptions, results of analyzes and examinations, medical imaging or hospitalization reports. There is one exception, however: minors wishing to keep information concerning their sexual health confidential may object to the inclusion of these elements in their digital file. This data will also be accessible to health professionals.
Policyholders will also have access to secure messaging to communicate with their healthcare professionals and to a calendar to manage their medical appointments. Finally, “My Health Space” will also have a catalog of applications referenced by the public authorities, for example for the monitoring of chronic diseases, teleconsultation, prevention or the dematerialization of the Vitale card.
In addition to the website, a “My Health Space” application will soon be launched. For people who do not have Internet access, their digital file will be available for consultation from the local France services counters or from their primary health insurance fund.
“My Health Space” replaces the Shared Medical Record (DMP), launched with great fanfare in 2011 but to which only 10 million out of 68 million insured have subscribed. For people who already have a DMP, it remains searchable and all data will be transferred to “My Health Space”.
How to create your “My Health Space” account?
“My Health Space” accounts will be created automatically. Between January and March 2022, all insured persons, adults and children, will receive a letter or email from Health Insurance, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health or the Mutualité sociale agricole asking them to activate their medical file with their Carte Vitale and a provisional code. For minors, their parents will receive this temporary code.
Once their account has been created, policyholders will fill in certain missing health information: family history, illnesses, allergies, vaccinations, treatments in progress, etc. Health professionals will be able, with the policyholder’s agreement, to consult a summary of their profile. . The history of reimbursed health care procedures and the vaccination course will also appear.
Is it possible to oppose the creation of “My Health Space”?
Yes, but only within six weeks, ie the period of validity of the provisional code sent to the insured. To delete your account, you will have to use it by logging in to Monespacesante.fr or call 34 22. After this period, it will still be possible to request the permanent deletion of all or part of your health data, but the Health Insurance will keep a record of it for ten years.
