I’homeopathy is effective during the menopause because it is not concerned with a symptom in particular but with a whole, a terrain. It does not have a standard treatment. It treats global and often intertwined symptoms (fatigue and difficulty sleeping, for example, or anxiety and insomnia, etc). Of course, it’s a medicine that doesn’t work on all women. Some do not necessarily find what they are looking for, either because they consider the remedies ineffective or take too long to act, or because they are confused by this way of treating which also takes into account their psycho-affective environment. According to homeopaths, it is better to consult early to treat the ground at the first signs of premenopause and set up a background treatment.
Dr. Serge Rafal, homeopath, specialist in these alternative medicine and complementary, cites some long-term treatments: Actaea racemosa, medicine prepared from a tree, black cohosh or cimicifuga, which calms thehyperemotivityI’anxiety, the feeling of insecurity; or even Sepia officinalis, derived from squid ink, which acts on the depressedthe tired, lack of sexual appetite. Then, each woman can find a remedy for disorders from which she suffers punctually or in the longer term: Lachesis mutus, Sepia or Sulfur against hot flashes ; Arsenicum album, Graphites, Sepia officinalis against the skin dryness ; Agnus cactus against the low libido. Homeopathy also offers remedies for specific disorders such as skin or hair problems, migraines.
But all these remedies (and there are many others) are only given as an indication. They cannot be taken as self-medication. To be effective, they must be the result of a complete examination on the part of the doctor who will identify the needs of his patient, and will prescribe the right drugs and the right dosages. Then, regular visits make it possible to adapt the treatment to get through this unpleasant period of menopause.
What is homeopathic hormone treatment?
“No drug, apart from THM, can claim to replace the hormones that are no longer secreted”, explains Dr. Serge Rafal from the outset. On the other hand, “we can help ourselves with infinitesimal doses of hormones to restore a balance”, continues the specialist. Low dilutions (4 CH or 5 CH) are stimulating, high dilutions (15 CH) slow down the metabolism or regulate it. Thus, the doctor will play on the hormones (or rather the neuro-hormones), rebalance them in a way.
The FSH: secreted in large quantities at menopause, in response to the cessation of ovarian function, it is therefore prescribed in high dilutions to curb hot flushes.
LH and RH: these are two neuro-hormones secreted by the hypothalamus. They are used in addition to the previous treatment if it is not enough, to play on the whole hormonal chain.
Folliculinum (to regulate the estrogen) : this is the old name for estrone, a hormone that accompanies the formation ofovum. During premenopause, when estrogen is in excess (tense breasts, irritability, headaches, water retention), it is prescribed in medium dilution. On the other hand, at menopause, when estrogens are no longer secreted, it is prescribed in low (4-5 CH) or medium (7-9 CH) dilution.
Progesteronum (To stimulate the progesterone) : indicated at low dilution in case of deficiency.
Luteinium: it has, according to Dr. Rafal, an even more complete action, since this substance, made from the yellow body (the tissues that produce progesterone) also contains vitamins and estrogens.
