According to the latest observatory carried out by Ipsos for Les Entreprises du Médicament (Leem), made public on Thursday March 28, 87% of French people trust medications. And despite the many crises that have affected the pharmaceutical sector in recent months, such as the one concerning 3rd generation pill, the confidence rating has even increased since only 84% of French people had a favorable opinion on drugs in 2012 and 82% in 2011.
Based on their daily experience, 43% of respondents say they use medication every day and most French people (92%) say that the medical specialties they take are effective.
However, doubts remain and a guarantee is needed to fuel the confidence of the French. More than nine in ten respondents (93%) say they have confidence in prescription drugs, and 92% in reimbursed drugs, thus benefiting from the doctor’s guarantee and a public guarantee. At the same time, 90% of respondents say they are aware that drugs are active products which may present certain risks.
On the other hand, 87% of those questioned consider that we takes too many drugs in the country and more than three quarters (80%) that there are too many drugs to treat certain diseases. Finally, nearly two-thirds of respondents (61%) consider that many medical specialties are unnecessary.
