16-year-old Mateo beat leukemia with an experimental treatment funded through a fundraising appeal.
€ 167,000 collected in a few days
He’s healed. This is now what doctors treating Mateo in the United States are diagnosing. However, Mateo, a little Frenchman from Isère, suffered from a severe form of leukemia, which left his French doctors with little hope. Except leaving for the United States, to receive an experimental treatment adapted to his leukemia, but still very expensive …
A call for donations launched in the media, and the sum of 167,000 € was raised in a few days, allowing Mateo to leave for the United States to be treated, accompanied by his parents and his sister.
Mateo recounted his battle with the disease on his blog
Mateo has maintained a blog since he was in the United States (Le Petit Mateo), and has a Facebook page followed by many of his donors. It was through these media that he gave regular news of his treatment, and the successes of the protocol, and therefore, now, announced that he was in complete remission.
