They will not be able to complete their process. On June 11, three days after filing an appeal for the reopening of all primary schools in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis), a group of parents of students was dismissed by the administrative court of Montreuil. In question: a “defect of form”according to AFP, including franceinfo echoed in particular. Indeed, the request lacked the address of the members of the collective “apolitical”.
“Parents are not used to this kind of action. Our only interest is that of the families and children of our neighborhoods”, they explain. The parents of pupils will thus have to pay the sum of 1,000 euros to the municipality of Aubervilliers in order to settle the legal costs. They criticized the city for the reception arrangements it had set, which, according to them, would not allow “that too few children go to school”.
650 students welcomed since June 9, according to the mayor of Aubervilliers
“Tuesday, June 9, 14 sites, including both kindergartens and elementary schools, were able to accommodate 650 pupilsassured the mayor, Meriem Derkaoui, in a communicated published on the municipality’s website. As the health protocol has not been lifted, National Education has set the threshold at 50 students per site. A threshold which could be reviewed in the coming days, according to the requests of the National Education, in particular thanks to the opening of other sites in the town..
As AFP reports, the group of parents of students believes that in reality, many children will not return to school more than once or twice in June. For them, this represents an obstacle to the need for “to resocialize” young people, as well as educational continuity.
The same court ruled in favor of the mother of a student
A legal action of this kind had already been carried out in Seine-Saint-Denis in May. The mother of a pupil had seized the administrative court of Montreuil to oppose the maintenance of the closure of the nursery schools of Bobigny until September. “The mayor’s decree is a serious and manifestly illegal violation of the right to education and instruction”had estimated the judge in chambers, according to AFP, in particular taken up by Point.
Thus, justice had ruled in favor of the mother: it had been decided that the city should “define by June 3 the reception arrangements in the large sections of its nursery schools, taking measures strictly proportionate to the health risks incurred and appropriate”. However, no reopening date had been imposed.
