Officially launched on April 2 on the occasion of World Autism Day, the Autism Info Service platform will be the first national and free listening and information system. about the disease. Its objective is to help people with autism, those around them and the professionals working with them to obtain information that is extremely complex to find.
Listening and information are 2 essential needs
Co-chaired by Samuel le Bihan and Florent Chapel, the Autism Info Service association was born from the desire of a handful of parents to provide families with reliable information.
According to a survey conducted for the occasion with parents or caregivers, but also autistic people, 93% of people say they need information on a daily basis and 80% say they have already looked for information on support without finding it.
When they do find the information, they highlight particularly long delays in accessing it. Thereby :
- 38% took more than a year to obtain the information to be referred to a support system
- 46% took more than 6 months to find a healthcare professional
- 34% took more than 6 months to find information relating to education or administrative procedures.
