In vitro fertilization (IVF) can be proposed from the outset when diagnosing infertility or after treatment failure. The woman must be under 43 at the time of IVF and the “reasonable” age of her spouse is under 55. Under these conditions, the health insurance fund covers the costs of four attempts to obtain a pregnancy.
Besides the woman’s age (an essential factor since fertility declines from the age of 37), there are several indications.
– Anomalies of the uterine tubes: because it is in a part of the tube that fertilization between oocytes and spermatozoa takes place.
– Infertility of man.
– Failure of treatments to treat ovulation or mucus abnormalities: these disorders are first treated with specific hormones and it is only in the event of failure of these treatments that IVF can be justified.
– Unexplained infertility.
