Elon Musk continues to tweet and posted that he is working on his Master Plan 3.
The richest man in the world knows how to get attention. He often does this by posting a Tweet. Now again, the billionaire entrepreneur shared a message on Twitter. He said he is “working on Master Plan Part 3”, without revealing more details.
Musk’s Master Plan 3
Very unclear and vague. This while Musk is always very straight away often to the dismay of many people. He’s trying to generate attention here about something new. But what it is is unclear. However, there are many rumors that he would like to go into aviation. So a Tesla plane.
In response, Adam Jonas, Morgan Stanley’s chief analyst for all things Tesla, claimed in a research note reported by MSN: “In our view, the likelihood that Tesla will ultimately not offer products and services to the eVTOL [elektrische verticale start- en landingsvliegtuigen]/UAM [urban air mobility]market small. The potential transferability of skills and network boundaries are too strong to ignore’.
Musk is of course already in space travel. Many experts therefore say that switching to aviation is a small step. The question is whether this is really the case.
Tesla plane
If Tesla is going to make an airplane, it will be electric. That’s where the difficulty comes in. Elon Musk told TechCrunch back in 2008 that “an electric plane will only become more feasible as battery technology improves.”
On an episode of the Third Row Tesla podcast, interviewers asked Elon about his plans to enter aviation in 2020. Elon replied, “No. I think it’s incredibly difficult to get an aircraft into production and meet all the legal requirements globally. It’s very hard… It takes a lot of effort to do any of these things, so you can’t do them all.” Of course he has a lot of money to set this up, but the main problem is that the batteries are not yet developed enough and that there are simply not enough smart people he can hire to make this happen. So the third Masterplan is probably something else…
