Farting is healthy
Good question! In this section Plus goes in search of answers to nagging questions. Are thin people rather cold? Why do your ears keep growing all your life? And is it dangerous to hold back winds?
Holding back winds is bad for your health. On average, people fart about fifteen a day. But also a lot of winds are withheld and it is better not to do that. Holding in farts can lead to bulges in the intestines. The toxic intestinal gases can cause complaints such as fatigue and headaches through absorption into the bloodstream.
Flatulence can have various causes. For example, because someone swallows too much air. This can happen with tension and stress, due to smoking or bad dentures. People who talk quickly, eat and drink quickly without chewing well, swallow extra air unnoticed.
Tips to reduce or prevent flatulence:
- Eat regularly and don’t skip meals.
- Eat slowly and chew well.
- Take enough time before meals and don’t talk too much while eating.
- Do not take products that cause extra gas formation.
- Do not chew gum.
- Stop smoking.
- Try to prevent constipation by eating healthy and fiber-rich foods.
Fiber-rich food is important in constipation, but the use of extra fiber can also temporarily increase gas formation. It is therefore important to gradually increase the number of fibers. Drink at least 2 liters per day.
