Follower of the WW (Weitgh Watchers) diet for 2 years, Hélène Ségara was fortunate to be able to eliminate the pounds she accumulated while on cortisone. Affected by the optic neuritiscorresponding to an inflammation of the optic nerve, the singer, who celebrates her 25th career in 2024, had to follow several treatments which notably have the side effect of water retention, and therefore weight gain.
If today, Hélène Ségara is done with the WW diet, she is careful to maintain good eating habits and the basics of Weitgh Watchers, which has allowed her to regain her “weight before” and to feel better in your body.
Before reappearing during the new season of France has an unbelievable talent broadcast on M6 from October 24, alongside Marianne James, Eric Antoine and Sugar Sammy and Karine Lemarchand, Hélène Ségara spoke to Top Health on his diet and shares with us the tips that allowed him to regulate her weight and above all take care of herself.
“Onion, garlic and olive oil, I can’t do without them”
If she were to quote the foods always present in his kitchen, Hélène Ségara would mention onion, garlic and olive oil. “I can not live without it. I always have some at home. I also like aromatic herbs : thyme, basil, coriander“.
She adds that she is a fan of home cooking. “I avoid consuming ready-made products, rich in preservatives, sugar, salt… There is nothing better than a dish that you have made yourself. If I don’t have time to cook, I prefer to eat something simple like a fish fillet prepared in two minutes“.
You can follow the advice of Hélène Ségara: aromatic herbs are an excellent way to reduce salt, which is conducive to water retention and hypertension. As for prepared meals, they must be limited if you want to avoid gaining weight and stay healthy. Rich in additives, salt, sugar and fat to ensure their taste and preservation, prepared meals are conducive to weight gain, inflammation and therefore chronic diseases.
“If you have to take calories, take them for something really good.”
The singer always makes sure to keep the habits she learned during her WW diet. “I have always said that health starts with the plate. I know I will never resort to junk food, it’s not in my upbringing. You can treat yourself while eating healthy things. I used to give myself a ‘trash day’ : one day in the week when I treated myself, Sunday. With WW (the WW diet works with points: they are calculated according to the content of calories, proteins, fibers, unsaturated and saturated fatty acids as well as added sugar in foods, editor’s note)I had enough points to make waffles, pancakes…“, remembers Hélène Ségara.
She reminds us how important it is to have fun avoid frustration, but choosing something good. “If you have to take calories, take them for something very good, like a chocolate cake. Don’t fall back on junk that will make you feel bad afterwards“.
“I lost 4 kilos per month for a year on the WW diet, the singer shares with us. I started it because I had gained weight because of my cortisone drips. Many women who have to take cortisone suffer from side effects such as weight gain: we are swollen, we get edema, we get it in the cheekbones, under the eyes… And what I liked with WW, we don’t torture ourselves. At no time did I have to remove bread or pasta from my diet. It’s about balancing differently. You have to eat everything and not deprive yourself“.
