32% of French people consider themselves in poor dental healthaccording to one study carried out in 2018. However, this one is very important for our health in general and our sexuality. Because having a beautiful smile and fresh breath are all factors that affect self-confidence, relationships with others and seduction.
No kisses
“A good number of French men and women do not kiss their partner because they are afraid that he will smell their dental problems or the fragilities they may haveexplains dentist Alain Amzalag in the podcast Wait a minute of 20 Minutes. We know that for many French people, romantic and sexual relationships are tarnished by the absence of kissing.”.
This act is indeed essential during a carnal moment, as well as in the daily couple relationship. “During the kiss, there is an exchange of saliva and endorphin between the two partners which is a determining point in the development of the sexual relationship.. The kiss relies heavily on our breath and our smells”, develops Alain Amzalag.
According to the dentist, wearing a mask would reinforce the reluctance to kiss. “When we have our mask, we have the smell of our breath which is not necessarily pleasant and there, it still blocks people a little more who say to themselves: if my breath is not very nice, well I don’t I don’t want to share it with the other”.
erectile dysfunction
In some cases, a dental infection can also cause erectile dysfunction. “A dental infection can spread to blood vessels, including those in the penis, explains Alain Amzalag. He will then be less irrigated and this can, in some people, lead to erectile dysfunction”.
Lack of self-confidence
Oral health also has a psychological impact. Indeed, people complexed by their smile can suffer from a lack of self-confidence in seductive relationships. “We realized that the loss of teeth in men induces a loss of virility and in women a loss of sensuality or of her potential for seduction, assures Alain Amzalag. The replacement of missing teeth with implants – and not with prostheses or dentures – totally boosts sensuality and sexuality. (…) I see old people who talk to me again about sexuality after the placement of implants. Whether at the level of the man or the woman, the reconstruction of a smile, it finally pushes the limits of old age and death.”, concludes the practitioner.
