It almost sounds unreal and yet it is true. You can play GTA V on a Nintendo Game Boy. That’s how it works.
Is GTA V the new Doom? The joke of the internet for years has been that you can play Doom on all kinds of devices. From a refrigerator to a printer. That’s because Doom requires very little computing power, while modern hardware is naturally becoming more powerful and can do more. In this case, someone got GTA V working on a Game Boy.
The Game Boy absolutely does not have the processing power to run this 2013 GTA. This is therefore not an installation on the device, but via streaming. Handsome head Sebastian Staacks has made it happen.
In an extensive YouTube video, Sebastian shows how he got GTA V working on a Game Boy through streaming. The basis is a custom cartridge with high-quality WiFi to enable successful streaming of the game on the device at all. The result can be seen in the video below. On the Staacks’ website you can read a more detailed description if you are interested in the technical story behind this development.
