How can varicose veins be prevented in the legs and in the male genitalia, especially the testes? Can it actually be prevented, and if so, how?
Luc
Varicose veins are not really preventable. It is mainly an inborn issue. Inherited from father or mother. People whose occupations require them to stand a lot are more likely to develop varicose veins.
In that case, therapeutic elastic stockings are often recommended for people who are also predisposed to varicose veins to prevent varicose vein development.
Also during pregnancy, elastic maternity tights can prevent the development of varicose veins. Timely treatment of varicose veins can prevent aggravation of the varicose veins.
A varicose vein in the scrotum is called a varicocele. This cannot really be prevented. It is advisable to have them treated, because a varicocele may lead to reduced fertility.
