From April, “docadom” will become the first web and mobile solution for connecting doctors and patients for home visits without an appointment.
The Uber of medicine is making a grand entrance in France. On the occasion of a press conference organized this Friday, three entrepreneurs in their thirties (Florian Gueho, Pierre Blanchard, and Marc Postel-Vinay) presented their solution to fight against the renunciation of French healthcare.
Based on the observation that 59% of them give up seeking treatment because of the difficulty of obtaining a consultation quickly, they announced the upcoming launch of “docadom” in the French capital (first in the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th).
From April 2017, this tool will thus become the first mobile application for connecting patients and doctors for general practitioner consultations at home without an appointment. This platform will offer a set of digital services for the patient, while offering a flexible and innovative business model for physicians. Contacted by Why actor, Marc Postel-Vinay, Deputy Managing Director of “docadom”, reveals his ambition to us. That of soon extending the Uber of medicine to the whole of France.
How does your service differ from SOS Médecins?
Marc Postel Vinay : There are several differences which are very important. The first is that “docadom” is betting on not having a call center. It is our algorithm which will directly distribute the consultations on the applications of the doctors and the patients who will use it. The second difference is that we offer recruited practitioners a full service. In addition to the “docadom” tool, we will provide them with a means of mobility (hybrid cars or scooters), an accounting service and a turnkey kit. For the latter, it will in fact be a backpack given to the doctor with all the necessary medical equipment.
What type of doctor (s) is “docadom” intended for?
Marc Postel-Vinay : There are two specialties that will work with us. The first is general medicine, and the second is the emergency room. Either they can work with us full time, or depending on their availability for additional income. We divided the days into 4 “guard lines”: 6-8am, 8-14pm, 2pm-8pm, 8pm-midnight. The advantage for these doctors is that they will only have to return a 10% commission to “docadom” to be able to use the application. By way of comparison, a young general practitioner who does replacements must donate 20-30% of what he earns to the doctor with whom he practices. And at SOS Médecins, the commission is 25%.
And on the patient side, how does your application work?
Marc Postel-Vinay : We want to work in such a way as to be as transparent as possible, both for the doctor and for the patient. The latter will be able to request the arrival of a doctor in just 3 clicks. But this request will be accompanied by two pieces of information before the consultation validation. On the one hand, we will provide the patient with an estimate of a price. On this subject, I remind you that we apply the Ameli quotations, that is to say 33 euros for a justified trip between 8 am-8pm and 61.5 euros on weekends and on a public holiday. On the other hand, the patient will be aware of the waiting period before the intervention at his home. He will even stay informed in real time of what is happening to the doctor, for example if he is late. All of this will happen with the help of SMS notifications.
