There is a clear lack of knowledge. (…) Heart disease can affect people of all ages, especially with Covid-19, as the virus can attack the heart.”
According to a study published in the journal European Heart Journalheart damage was observed in more than half of hospitalized patients with severe COVID-19 at least one month after discharge. Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle), heart attacks and ischemia (restriction of blood supply to the heart) were observed.
Preventing heart disease is essential by adopting good habits from an early age. Regular physical activity, a balanced diet, limiting alcohol consumption and not smoking are recommended. Maintaining a healthy weight and managing stress are also important factors in maintaining good heart health.
