The Google Pixel 6 is coming: the tech company can already reveal a few things about the new smartphone that will be fully unveiled in October.
The Android phone market is very large, as Google’s operating system is the popular option to build a phone around. Google did the Nexus series for a while: Together with an Android manufacturer, they built a phone that was the closest to a phone from Google itself.
Pixel
Until 2016, when Google started working on its own. The result is the Pixel. A fairly average smartphone, but with the advantage that the makers of the phone also make the OS. Let’s put it this way: the Pixel uses the most “pure” version of Android. We are now five Pixels further and it is the turn of the Google Pixel 6 to be unveiled.
Google Pixel 6
That’s happening now… not. Well, there’s official material released from Google that we can do something with. For example, we see the final design. Yesterday we showed the renders according to the latest news, which were indeed close to the truth.
So the renders were very close to the final product. To give a quick recap of the new Google Pixel 6 design: a fairly average back with the cameras in a large black bar that occupies the entire width of the phone. We can’t quite tell whether it’s two or three cameras: it’s probably two cameras for the Pixel 6 and three cameras for the Pixel 6 Pro. Because yes, it is also official that those are the two flavors in which the Google Pixel 6 will debut in October. The screen is broadly similar to the Pixel 5, only the hole punch camera moved from top left corner to top center.
Tensor
Google thought it was time for the Pixel 6 to come up with its own chipset. They do this with Tensor SoC, which stands for System on Chip. Tensor focuses mainly on Machine Learning and must ensure that the Pixel 6 works intuitively for every user. The Pixel 6’s UI has also been redesigned to look even slicker and work better. So we have to fully discover that in October.
Release in October
Because as said, Google is not yet so generous with the info about the Pixel 6, but they will have the full specs for us in October. A couple of things we can still pick up on is that the five colors in the header photo are probably the five colors available and the Pixel 6 obviously has 5G support. The Google Pixel 6 has the potential to be a neat smartphone, but probably not for us. If Google follows the trend of the previous five Pixels, the Netherlands will be skipped as the country where the Pixel 6 is officially available. Nothing is impossible of course, but be warned.
