Emmanuel Macron is now in the back of the DS 7 Crossback Élysée
Whatever your take on politics, the cars our high-ranking politicians haul around are always cool. In many countries it is also a nice insight into the national car culture. It says a lot that our Prime Minister likes to take an unarmored Koga F3. You know, one of those things with big 32-spoke rims (and two pedals). Recently, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has a new mode of transport. This is the DS 7 Crossback Elysee. It is the successor to the Crossback Presidentiel.
The new car of the French president is bigger and more chic than the DS 7 that you can buy in the showroom. The wheelbase grew by 20 centimeters and the exterior tin is armored. There is no back seat in the back, but two separate seats with a thick elbow rest in between. The power of the hybrid powertrain is still 300 hp. By the way, Élysée can be translated into the word Elysium. In Roman religion this was a part of the underworld, where the blessed dwelt.
The French president’s new car is not for sale
The Élysée is not in the price lists of DS in the Netherlands or in France. The red-blue strobes behind the grille would also undoubtedly not pass the type approval. However, you can just order an unarmored DS 7 Crossback with the 300 hp powertrain. So tell me, do you like this modesty, or would you rather go for a gigantic Cadillac, like The Beast in which the American president is driven around?
