CD Projekt Red is adding free DLC to Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time, but it’s not at all what fans had been hoping for all these months.
This week, CD Projekt Red announced the first free DLC (downloadable content) for Cyberpunk 2077 and the internet has been raving about it. In fact, one of history’s best-selling games should be able to deliver a whole lot more than this. Or should we give the already so pained developer some leniency?
First Cyberpunk 2077 DLC
Of Patch 1.3 The first DLC for sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is also coming out, but the content itself is laughable at first glance. The Polish company is adding two jackets, a new car and a new look for Johnny Silverhand to the game. After over 8 months of waiting and countless bug fixes later, this is the meager free reward players get for their patience.
Now, the developer emphasizes that these are the first minor DLCs. CD Projekt Red has always been like this with free content. The Witcher 3 also received many free ‘small DLCs’ including a new appearance or weapon. The free content will therefore always remain minimal. At the same time, several major (paid) story expansions are also planned, again as with The Witcher 3.
But after the Cyberpunk 2077 launch debacle, fans could have earned a little more than four minimal pieces of DLC. After all the waiting, the game should finally run decently on older consoles. Patch 1.3 also brings an unbelievable laundry list of bug fixes and tweaks.
Despite the lack of free content, you can really say that CD Projekt Red has finally found a rhythm when it comes to repairing their game. It looks like the game is really starting to get ‘finished’ now. I’d rather have a good running, bug-free game than extra content. That should have been the case at launch, but better late than never, right?
