Estrima opens its first official point of sale in France to market the Biro electric quadricycle, which intends to compete with the Citroën Ami by betting on even more compact dimensions.
Launched in Italy twelve years ago, the Estrima Biro officially landed in France. This small two-seater electric quadricycle is positioned halfway between a Renault Twizy and a Citroën Ami. Above all, it relies on a tiny size allowing it to slip everywhere: 1.74 m long and 1.03 m wide. According to Matteo Maestri, president of Estrima, Biro combines “the stability of a car with the dimensions of a scooter”.
A removable battery to simplify recharging
In its basic version, the Biro has no doors, has a small lockable trunk of 41 L, and carries a lithium battery officially giving it 55 km of autonomy. This one, called Re-Move, is removable and can therefore be recharged anywhere. A fixed battery called Maxi is also available, and can travel 100 km on one charge according to the manufacturer. In any case, the Biro is powered by two rear electric motors together providing 4.5 hp. For comparison, a Citroën Ami has 8 hp and a range of 75 km according to its technical data sheet. The Biro is homologated as a light quadricycle (AM licence) like the Citroën Ami, which induces a limited speed of 45 km/h, but it is also available as a heavy quadricycle (B1 licence) of 5.2 hp limited to 60 km/ha double proposition reminiscent of the Renault Twizy.
A less friendly price than at Citroën
The Biro is also available in a Big version with a 300 L trunk, an additional 10 cm long. Various packs appear in its catalog such as the Winter which adds doors or the Box which offers a modular chest. Not lacking in assets on paper, the Biro suffers from a major handicap against the Citroën Ami: its price. The chevron chip is available from €7,790; his Italian rival asks for a minimum of €10,800. It can be discovered in the only official French Biro Store which has just opened in Paris, at 27 rue des Archives in the 4th arrondissement. But other distributors offer the vehicle elsewhere in France. Their addresses are listed on the Estrima official website.
