The National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) has appointed its new director. At 58, Dominique Martin succeeds Dominique Maraninchi and wants to further strengthen security.
The name of Dominique Maraninchi’s successor at the head of the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) is finally known. Dominique Martin, a senior civil servant and doctor, should both be a continuation of his predecessor and place the patient at the heart of his work.
At 58, Dominique Martin is no stranger to positions of high responsibility. A graduate in medicine, psychiatry and in-depth studies in social sciences, he joined the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs as soon as he left the ENA in 1997. There he was responsible for the General Directorate of Health (DGS) during a year. But he continued his advisory role in various ministries until 2002, when he headed the National Office for Compensation for Medical Accidents, Iatrogenic Affections and Nosocomial Infections (ONIAM). Latest position: director of occupational risks of the National Health Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (CNAMTS).
Auditioned by the Social Affairs Commission of the National Assembly, Dominique Martin said he wanted to work on “secure access for all to medicines” and to strengthen pharmacovigilance. He also expressed his intention to continue the work of reassessing the benefit-risk ratio of drugs on the market for a long time.
