When I go to sleep I feel my heartbeat in my head like this. I really feel the back pressure of the pillow. Now I wonder: does this happen more often? I never hear from others around me about it. I am a woman of 74.

There are indeed more people who say their heartbeat or who hear the blood rushing in their ears. Usually that doesn’t mean much. If you always feel it in the same spot, you can ask your doctor to listen to it with a stethoscope. A narrowing of an artery can occasionally cause a murmur. But usually there is nothing wrong: by adopting a certain position, you press an artery a little closed. This can do no harm. It is also important that your blood pressure is not too high, but I assume you have had this measured at some point.
