According to a survey, two out of three French people say they are more suspicious than five years ago in their daily life as consumers. But, they maintain their trust in certain health professionals.
The mistrust of French consumers is gaining ground. According to the latest survey (1) carried out by 60 million consumers published on Tuesday, two out of three people say they are more suspicious than five years ago in “their daily life as consumers”. Proof of this lack of confidence, 82% of respondents think, for example, that salespeople try to influence their choice, and 92% are convinced that household or high-tech products are deliberately designed not to last. In this climate, only a few professionals are still popular with the French. Among them, health professionals.
Doctors at the top of the list
Thus, the medical professions, especially doctors (91%), but also pharmacists (87%) are among the professions with the highest rating of confidence among consumers. However, the magazine put these figures into perspective specifying that for doctors, “27% of French people trust them completely and 64% are happy to trust them rather”.
However, even in the health sector, some professionals are still less appreciated. This is the case for dentists (24% of French people do not trust them), but also opticians (33%).
83% decried real estate agents
Finally, the professionals who arouse the most mistrust are specialists in anonymous relationships: insurers (78% of respondents do not trust them), telephone operators (74%) and bankers (72%). But real estate agents are doing even worse with an 83% defiance rate. “No doubt they pay the emotional, almost existential charge that we put in housing, a burden increased by the rise in prices in recent years”, concludes the magazine of the National Institute of Consumption (INC)
(1) Survey carried out between February 28 and 4 March online with 1,020 people aged 18 and over, representative of the French population.
